With numerically superior forces, the UBR forces halted on the onset of the River Drin, only bringing up artillery from the 4th and 5th artillery divisions to bombard the infantry-men occupying positions on the Drin River, careful not to hit the bridge. The UBR air forces, which comrpised of 300 B-01 Thunder and 400 F-01 Partridge aircraft would release AGM-01 guided bombs from 3 miles away and would decimate supposed Albanian occupied buildings overlooking the river until it was suitable for UBR engineers to disarm the bridge.

After a harsh night the Albanian Army had reached the River Drin. Small elements of retreating and routed albanians were stealing civilian clothing and hiding out in citys and towns, stashing their weapons and burning their army uniforms.
The Battle of Mertur Bridges
The small Albanian Army knew this would be their only chance to hold the superior enemy force, they must hold this bridge at all costs. the 27th Infantry had been given the task 8,000 Albanian Regulars awaited the oncoming Elite UBR army. It seemed Albania was facing the impossible, Italy from the west and the UBR from the north. These men were the most loyal of the Albanian Soldier at the time, they stood fast awaiting a harsh battle. Sure enough they got one, as the UBR Begin pounding the buildings infront of the bridge where small garrisons lay in wait. The explosive charges however were not disabled, and the bridges still had the ability to be blown at any time. The large air assault did decimate half of the city, turning it into ruins. But still the now frightened 27th recieved the order to protect the bridge from engineers at all costs and that more divisions were enroute to reinforce them, but they must attack the bridge now.
As UBR Engineers were attempting to disarm the bridge, an entire regiment with 5 T-55's appeared advancing through the rubbel, the infantry was running and the vehicles were speeding forward. Little did the UBR know the rest of the Albanian Army was enroute to the city of Mertur where they would make their stand.
Standing Orders -All Divisions Commited to Holding of the Mertur Bridge -Flak Batterys deployed against enemy aircraft as well as 4 Mobile SAM's. The SAM's marked the HQ of the Major General Dayn C. Carin -The Bridge will be blown the second UBR Infantry or tanks move onto it to dislodge Albanian Forces defending the bridge. -Tirane Missile Command 4 Missile Systems in Tirane with the ability to launch 4 small anti personel missiles fire all their salvos into the UBR Forces.
Casualtys at Mertur After the Air Raid: -230 KIA 320 WIA 5 MIA

As the UBR forces sat having breakfast and artillery pounded Albanian forces on the bridge, missiles appeared over the horizon. Immediately, multiple SAM-01 batteries sprang to life. Their radars spun once and locked directly onto their targets, and in a large flash of light, the rockets launched into the air with a defeaning sound. With superior technology, the missiles had been diverted and destroyed, saving countless UBR lives.
- - -
With scout reports of more enemy action in the Mertur bridge area, the T-01 Budapest divisions were being organized into artillery protectorates and support units. Armed with heavy explosive shells instead of armor piercing, the entirety of the 4th and 5th artillery divisions (200 ART-01s in total) and most of the 6th and 7th armored divisions were (About 800 T-01s) bombarding Mertur into ruin.
SAM batteries were of little worry to the UBR because of their stealth technology, but the AA batteries had to be disposed of. A man from the 10th Cavalry had spotted the batteries, but before being captured by Albanian soldiers, radioed in coordinates to the nests.
Minutes later, B-01 Thunder bombers released their devestating payloads of AGM-01 missiles from over 3 miles away onto the designated AA batteries. What the artillery and tanks had yet to knock out, the AGM missiles would.
...All that would halt a UBR offensive now was the deletion of a certain bridge.
Casualties:
- 1 Captured - 26 Dead - 89 Wounded

General Major Dayn C. Carin sat in a jeep surrounded by 4 Mobile SAMs in his bunker he and his commanders were devising a strategy to stop the UBR offencive here, but they had no air support. Dayn knew it was a hopeless cause but still he gave orders for major advances. The battle begin at 2 PM as the 27th Infantry begin to deploy in positions near the river Mertur. With small arms they were able to secure the bridge for a short time, until UBR artillery begin blowing the entire city to hell. The the 27th awaited the command to blow the bridge as artillery slammed into them, the barage went on for some time and as orders were being garbled due to the intense battle and the green units. Colonel Jerico Smith ordered an infantry move across the Mertur bridge. This was a massive mistake as he sent 2 of his regiments across the bridge 1,000 infantry, supported by 4 leading tanks. The Offencive was supposed to draw the UBR across the bridge. It didn't work.
The Elite UBR forces quickly tossed the attack aside as Albanians took maximum casualtys. But still stubbornly held the bridge, by morning when the artillery barage ceased casualtys in the 27th were heavy, and the city of mertur had been all but destroyed, in the chaos, the engineer division had blow the bridge as they feared they would lose the capability to blow the bridge. Their fears were correct as minutes after the bridges begin to blow, the city was turned to ash. The 27th was ordered back from Mertur as thousands lay dead in the city.
Casualtys 27th Infantry 2,320 KIA 4,329 WIA. 3 SAM Batterys
Now with nothing but a small conscripted army and a tank division the albanian army begin to hide in wait for the next UBR move.
-Note a bombing assault took place at General Major Dayn C. Carin's bunker destroying 3 of his precious Mobile SAM Batterys, and wounding the General, he has been removed from the front and taken to Tirane. Colonel Laurenzo Tira has taken command of the northern sector of Albania.

With the delay of the destroyed bridge, the UBR began to cross the river be deploying two pontoon bridges in the former areas in rapid sucession. They formed perimeters around the area, and in total, all but the armor divisions which were too heavy to cross made it. Now, they sat and waited, deploying their artillery and bombarding Albanian forces into submission. - - - Arming themselves with high-explosive shrapnel weapons and napalm for some of the low flying F-01s, the UBR air force conentrated on the areas outside of Mertur, bombarding even the slightest reports of enemy activity with a furious answer of flame and metal. The 9th, 10th and 11th Cavalry has sent forward artillery observers to scout areas and find Albanian positions to call in artillery strikes on. Albanian Armed forces tried countless times to form tanks and men together to assault the UBR forces crossing the bridge, but due to enemy air support, no formation was able to gather the strength to muster an assault, conscripts begin falling back, and now it was inevitable word came from Tirane for the forces to retreat to the capital, and the retreat of the battered and defeated corps begin the long run to the capital where they would once again meet the same attackers

With the Mertur bombings becoming completely effective and winning the entire UBR battle front, the air force redirected their bombings against Tirana. The bulk of the army [which now included the armor divisions which had crossed due to the reconstruction of the bridge] moved southwest to capture Tirana, and to encircle the city in a giant gap.
The air force escroted their B-01 bombers, and all fighters not only carried air-to-air missiles, but small air-to-ground missiles as well to release on the city. While the AGM-01 missiles did a good amount of damage to the retreating soldiers in Tirana, the artillery from the north would provide even more damage when it came to the outskirts of the city. The Siege of Tirana had begun.

Now, with a fully reorganized military, the UBR force began to surround Tirana, bombarding it with MBTs, artillery, fighters, and bombers.

Well hidden flak batterys opened fire as the enemy bombers and fighters begin hitting the capital, Albanian forces fortify buildings everywhere, tanks are hidden to slow any enemy advance into the city. Artillery opens fire from inside the city, scattered artillery pieces begin firing on the UBR Siege forces. Snipers also open fire at long ranges from the outskirts of the city. Small platoons and squads are outside of the city fighting guerrilla warfare dressed in civilian clothing. Many Albanian civilians follow suit as all occupied Albanian citys become active war zones.

Immediately after taking fire from the concealed AA positions, the fighters and bombers marked them on maps and returned to base, careful not to recieve fire. Some of the pilots, however, were not so lucky, and already 4 F-01 Partridge aircraft have been shot down over Tirana.
- - -
To the north, artillery batteries and armor divisions are opening up on Albania with high explosive rounds to deliver maximum destruction to not only Albanian military officials, but to Albanian citizens as well. Counter-snipers guarding the artillery officers are doing what they were trained to do, and are mostly the best of the best.
- - -
To the west, the UBRS Jekevo and Nomada, two Budapest Class Battlecruisers, have arrived off the coast of Albania. Armed with cruise missiles, they are currently launching hundreds of their sea-to-ground missiles, bombarding the city with massive effect.
- - -
Along the current occupied UBR cities, men had taken small casualties. This was due to militia dressing as civilians, and blackouts have been issued to cities all across Albania to quell this violence. Militia units are ordered to quit their attacks or be found after the war and be killed.
