UBR Invades Serbia and Romania

[United Balkan Republic]

With Bosnia and Croatia quelled and with rapid advances in UBR economy and technology, more soldiers began to fulfill Idalo's dream of a unified Balkan peninsula. No one would have believed that the UBR would conduct this operation with such swiftness and complecancy. With its new technology and funding from the EBA, this would be a sure victory for the UBR...At least they hoped.

The plan called to quickly manuever inside the borders of each country and set up defensive perimeters. After bombarding them into submission with air superiority, an ultamatom would be given; and if rejected, the forces would then continue a march on both capitol cities.

Army Group A would capture Sandiak and take up resistance fighters to join them in Montenegro and Kosovo due to the unstable region. After massive air bombardment, the capitol would be secured if an ultamatom had been rejected.

Army Group B would capture Cluj and take up defensive positions outside the Carpathian Mountains, guarding the few passes to resist any Romanian resistance. After intense bombardment of Bucharest, an ultamatom will be released - and if rejected - Army Group B will march on Bucharest.

Not completely caught off guard, both nations scramble to mount a counter-offensive in a joint counter-attack on Army's A and B.

The Serbian army, consisting of about 200,000 men with artillery, air support, and about 75 tanks, scrambles to meet Army Group A near Sandiak. Heavy fighting in the country side arises.

In Romania, a much more organized army advances towards Cluj through a pass in the mountains. The local army in the city had already been ordered to fortify the city with tank traps, trenchs, and mines along the way to the city.

Army Group A began to seize control of high points throughout the countryside, and ART-01 artillery pieces, under guard from the 1st and 2nd Cavalry divisions, set up a large battery to rain artillery down on defending Serbs. Landing Zones Uramus and Opamus were established to continue calling in artillery.

Meanwhile, in the west, the 1st Guards began to be repulsed by Serbian artillery. Twelve B-01 Thunder bombs from the 1st Bomer Air Wing were called in from Budapest to conduct raids on the Serbian artillery, and to establish a long penetrating line into their defenses. Su-22 Finders and F-01 Partridge aircraft dropped Precision Guided Bombs on the Serbs, as they did with Croatia months before. The unstoppable T-01 Budapest tanks rolled over any kind of Serbian advantage, but the fight was far from certain victory.

Out east, through the mountain pass, fourteen B-01 Thunder bombers decimated the area with 106 small 500 pound bombs each, capsizing the trail and hopefully putting an end to any Romanian defense. The 2nd armored secured high positions, and rained fire onto the trapped Romanians.

With small division warfare across the countryside, several divisions in the Serb army are ordered to silence the UBR's artillery at all costs. They begin to push relentlessly into the UBR lines, looking for a weakness.

In Romania, the lines of Cluj slowly begin to falter as the Romanian troops inside the city lose their moral. Civilain casualties are in the hundreds and the white flag is hung over the skyline. Romanian forces continue to push through the mountains and engage the UBR forces.

With Belgrade in sight, Army Group A's southern line regretabbly began to retreat. As they did, to equalize their line with the northern side, the pursuing Serbs were bombarded with artillery, rockets from helicopters, and precision guided bombs, smart missiles and other aircraft munitions.

Army Group B sent the 3rd and 4th Mechanized to secure Transylvania, while holding their own line against the menacing Romanians with superior air and artillery support.

After the southern line would be equalized, reserves from the 11th, 12th, and 13th Infantry Divisions fresh from Bosnia would cross the River Danube and try to throw off the Serbian army stationed at Belgrade. To the east, Men and equipment from the 4th Armored would roll around the River Danube by sneaking through the thin lines of the Hungro-Romanian border and help the infantry divisions in a vast coordinated assault.

With the UBR forces of Group A seemingly retreating, the Serbs push foward, eager to drive them completely out of Serbia. In doing so, they left Belgrade poorly defended against the coming assault from the river. The garrison left in the city was routed and the victorious UBR's swept into the city. Upon hearing this, the Serbian army, or whats left of it, began marching back towards their capitol. Too little too late: The president surrenders in the capitol unconditionally.

Romanian forces, despite some losses due to the airbombing, continues on towards Translyvania and encircles the UBR forces near Culj.

Taking little loss of life, the mightiest force in the entire Balkan peninsula [save the UBR] had been destroyed and had surrendered unconditionally to the republic. Occupying the country-sides and clearing out conspirators, Army Group A's Danube river divisions left the occupying divisions and began to cross the Serbo-Romanian border, helping the soon to be encircled Army Group B. Constant air force raids from Budapest did little to the stead-fast Romanian forces, for every man they lost, 7 more would appear.

With the Romanians barely able to push on one front, they would not be able to with another flanking them. The Romanians began a tactical retreat into the Carpathian Mountains. They would use their Mountain Infantry and artillery to defend that area from the northern forces. In the west, they gathered along the Mures and Danube River. This front would be their last defense in approaching Bucharest. The remnants of their Air Force used hit-and-run techniques on the advancing bombing forces, hoping to whittle them down enough for surface-to-air missiles.

OOC: Er...My bombers are long range stealth and deliver their bombs from miles away because of the durability of the AGM-01...So not only would the Romanians have any idea where the bombers were firing their weapons from, but there is no way they'd have aircraft able to even lock on to a B-01. XD

With northwestern Romania secured and with little loss of life, the remnants of the Danube river offensive forces and the entirety of Army Group B [save occupation police] pushed through the Carpathian mountain passes, the T-01 Budapest MBT divisions and Dingo APCs leading the way to clear out any Romanians foolish enough to try and halt the convoy. In the air, supremacy was in complete sight, and it was obvious that the F-01 and B-01 were giving the Romanians complete hell through all of their cities. Every now and then, a soldier would sight a low flying F-01 above them, and would open his bombay doors, fire his AGMs, and retreat back to Sarajevo or Budapest. It was a morale boosting sight, one that showed the strength and might of the UBR.

With morale shattered, their army in crumbles and their air force not making any difference, the remnants of the Romanian army retreat back to Bucharst. There, they fortify the city, attempting to make it an Alamo.

With UBR air supremacy and clearly superior technology in all aspects, the Romanian leaders surrender after two days of seige in the city.

Accepting little to no casualties because of the use of the T-01 and APC-01 and their dominant air force, Romania has been folded into the UBR with no official documentation of conditions of surrender.
