Background: Hungary was first inhabited by barbarians and mongrles from the east, and stayed completely neutral from the 100's all the way to the Renaissance, only playing a small part in history by losing a small portion of land to Atilla the Hun, who was assassinated by Romans after his conquests reached Constantinople, and Hungary's lands were reclaimed by the people who inhabited them before Atilla's reign. It became part of the polyglot Austro-Hungarian Empire, which collapsed shortly after World War I due to economic pressure and frustration of unable to conquer the small Serbian republic to the south, which ultimately sparked the war. During World War II, the country was occupied by Italy, and the country fell under Communist rule following the conflict. In 1956, a revolt and announced withdrawal from the Warsaw Pact were met with a massive military intervention by Moscow. Under the leadership of Janos Kadar in 1968, Hungary began liberalizing its economy, introducing so-called "Goulash Communism." Hungary held its first multiparty elections in 1990 and initiated a free market economy. It joined NATO in 1999 and the EU in 2004.
Modern Background: On the 1st week of January, 1 A.H., Hungary went to war with Croatia for a terrorist attack that was unjustified but claimed by Croatian terrorists. Hungary's 1st Close Air Support Wing launched strategical air strikes against the Croatian military in response, and Hungary officially declared war soon afterwards. Croatia, weakened and destroyed, surrendered - and with Hungary formed the UBR, or United Balkan Republic.
Throughout the months of the 1st quarter during 1 A.H., the UBR continued to decimate that Balkans with their superior economic strength and trade acts. Developments of new fighter and bomber aircraft proved to be beyond any nation's defense programs, and by the 2nd week of April, Serbia, Bosnia, and Romania fell swiftly without conditions of surrender to the UBR. Days later, upon reinstating government puppets in the fallen countries, the UBR turned its attention towards Macedonia and Bulgaria who had turned down an invitation to join the mighty Republic. B-01 Thunder and F-01 Partridge aircraft bombarded Macedonia and its major cities, while its small and effective military tried to mobilize under the intense bombardment. With superior technology and a better fighting force, Macedonia finally surrendered. Eager to unite their peninsula, the URB then moved east into Bulgaria, practicing the same form of long range warfare that they did with the Macedons. Bulgaria too sucummbed to the mightiest power in the Balkans, and rested firmly in the hands of the UBR.
Shortly there-after, the UBR annexed Moldova through brute force and Greece voluntarily joined the UBR. The UBR also sold land in Croatia [Istria, Rijeka and Adriatic Islands] to the Slovenians for a large sum of money, making them even richer. With their navy in production and their grip over the Balkan world, it was clear that the UBR was a large super power throughout the European world.
Moving quickly, the UBR instated its military onto Slovakia and Austria, and within days, Austria surrendered and was annexed into the UBR.
