King Christian VIII was at an elaborate table with his various ministers and advisors. Just earlier that same day, Parliament had approved a response to a secret German message, and the K-3 sidearm, K-4 assault rifle, and KA-2 light tank had commenced production. Now, the discussion was over territorial expansion.
"It is clear that we need to demonstrate the power of the Danish people to the world," said War Minister Laurits Jæger, "Germany's proposal to us is a perfect example of this. They expect us to submit to them without a fight. They see the government, us, as cowards and weasels. We must prove to them and to the rest of the world that these, we are not."
"There are also good economic reasons for war," noted Minister of the Treasury Sidsel Maderson. "By invading, say, Norway, our sea coast would be greatly expanded. Trade and tourism would be increased, and that would be of great benefit to us. We would have new taxpayers, more industry, more farmland. Expansion of industry and production. War is good for business."
The king listened to the opinions of his advisors, mostly advocating war, with Norway as an ideal target. "But we must remember, that our new military units not yet fully equipped with these new weapons. And they alone will not guarantee success. We should wait until we our stronger, until our units have the new technology. Then, we can strike."
