Military advancements are nothing paticularly extensive nor are there any paticular rules you must follow when advancing your tech.
How you make new advances is strictly up to you. You can make a new tank, aircraft, gun, etc. Simply take what you currently have, do some research on it depending on what it is, and make a few adjustments to it and make a new name. The templates for this will be arriving soon.
You can tech anything you want, as stated before. It's good to get an image along with the stats so people have a good idea of what it looks like. You DON'T have to make an image yourself, just find a good one resembling your design.
Introducing a new uniform or gun might require a paint image or something along those lines. That, or a detailed explanation of what it looks like.
NEW RULE: 3 technology to start when making a thread, afterwards: 1 per day only - and NO, they don't stack on top of each other. So if you miss a day, you start at 1 the next, not 2. - United Balkan Republic
On top of this, some techs will take longer to do.
AIR SYSTEMS - 3 days LAND SYSTEMS - 2 days OTHER SYSTEMS - [Depends] SEA SYSTEMS - 4 days SMALL ARMS - 1 day SPACE SYSTEMS - 5 days WEAPON SYSTEMS - 1 day
If you start teching an air thing, you cannot at the same time do an infantry advancement. You must wait the three days and than do the one day.
Current Tech
Along with new advancements, your nations thread should also have the current tech of your army, which includes what types of tanks, jets, weapons, etc. New advancements require these to be updated.

Ummm, I'm a little confused. Does that mean if you design a piece of technology, it immidately enters service?
